Interview was through a phone call with a corporate recruiter at Huawei Canada in Markham. Overall, the phone interview seemed great and mostly basic with behavioral questions and just discussion about the role and what is expected.
This company and the recruiter essentially ghosted me after the interview. Recruiter never bothered to follow up with the status, and after trying to reach out via email and LinkedIn, no response. Didn't even bother to read my message. This is unprofessional and very disrespectful to your potential candidate. If you are not interested, just be open about it and tell me so at least I know. Hiring is a two-way street, it works both ways. Open communication is important, it also demonstrates a bit about what the culture is like. Especially when a candidate tries to follow up, you can at least respond. It has been two months now, no response. I am deeply disappointed, and its really a shame. I am Chinese myself and I've been really proud of Huawei's accomplishments especially in Canada where it is building a lot of the telecom networks and investing in AI technology. This being said, I feel this whole problem is mostly on the recruiter, but seriously recruiter is the face of the company and a candidate's first impression. Its just a shame that this happened and I do hope that this does not continue. Canada has great talent and its very competitive, with this attitude, its not going to work.
