Pretty straightforward, despite some delays when scheduling the interview.
The first step consisted of a one on one interview with the potential supervisor, talking about basic concepts about the field applied.
Once that was done, we moved to a 24h project, where they wanted to see some coding skills replicating a paper chose by them.
Finally, I was asked to prepare a 30 min presentation on some work I had done previously.
I interviewed at Huawei Technologies (Montreal, QC)
Interview
Give a 30 minute presentation followed by technical Q&A. Followed by general knowledge questions in your research field, and finally a 30 minute period for two leetcode style coding questions
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Based on your existing research, create a new hypothesis and experiment plan for what you would want to test the second time around
30min presentation of my research (slides required). Then, a Q&A part based on my research. No coding and deep technical questions. The process is smooth and peaceful. Two interviewers. Language: Chinese.
The interview consisted of 1 question, which was resembling a leetcode question, but actually was an open problem (ie my interviewer did not have a full answer to it).
Instead of my ability to code/solve problems the interviewer was curious about my ability to come up with ideas and being able to communicate and discuss them.
