      HR Manager Interview

      Mar 7, 2018
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      London, England
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at ITV (London, England)

      Interview

I had a telephone interview a week after applying for the role which I felt went well despite being quite short and not meeting the specification that was given to me prior to the interview. The brief for the telephone interview was to find out about my experience and why I wanted to work for ITV. However, when it came to the interview the only two questions that were asked were 'What employee relations experience have you had?' and 'What is your ER caseload?' This was a bit disappointing given that I had thought I'd be asked a variety of questions and get to show off why I would love to work for ITV. When I asked what the ER workload would be, the recruiter was unable to advise. After the telephone interview, the recruiter soon followed up to find out if my salary expectations were in line with what they would be able to offer. The salary was below what I would have expected so I took a couple of days to think about it before going back. I wasn't actively looking for a role but had applied for the position as I have past experience of working in HR for a broadcasting company and had loved it. I also asked where the role would be located in London as I was aware they had a number of sites. This wouldn't have necessarily made a difference to whether I progressed my application or not but would have been interesting to know. Instead, I received no response. After a few weeks of silence, I assumed that I had not been successful and accepted this. However, I was then contacted last week to ask if I could come in for an interview this week. They then followed up with a proposed time and date. After this, I received no response and contacted them via text and then a few days later, by phone to ask what was happening. On each occasion, I received no answer and no response was made thereafter. This evening I have received a rejection saying that I have not been selected for interview. This would be fine except for the fact that I had been invited for interview and then not been contacted any further. No reason was given for this. It's an unfortunate situation but I'm afraid my candidate experience has not been good. Having been polite throughout the process, I would expect to have been treated much better than this, especially when I have been contacted to ask my salary expectation following an initial interview and then asked to attend an interview.
