I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Ike in Oct 2019
Interview
I had an amazing experience interviewing with Ike. I really enjoyed meeting members of the team - everyone was very kind and treated me with a lot of respect. I was very impressed by Ike's focus on making sure that each candidate has a fair interview process and that any accommodations are made for someone to interview to the best of their ability. Outside of Ike, I've only seen this at large, public tech companies.
I had an introductory call with someone from the recruiting team, followed by a phone screen, and then an onsite. I also talked with the CTO as the final step in the process.
I applied in-person. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Ike (San Francisco, CA) in Oct 2019
Interview
Met with several members of teams from different parts of the org. Mix of traditional, whiteboarding, technical interviews, deep-dives and discussion of various pieces of tech and CS concepts, and general personality and get-to-know-you questions. Overall, a very positive experience - you get a great sense of Ike as an organization, and the people that comprise it. The questions were much better than your standard leetcode fare, encouraging thoughtful discussion. I felt like I was being given a chance to have a conversation about software, rather than being quizzed on memorization of algorithms.
The interviews are broken up by a get-to-know-you lunch with a teammember who is not in engineering. This was a lovely experience - a chance to just chat about ourselves and Ike, giving a break from the interview stress while giving a good insight into how the company works.
Overall, I really enjoyed it - which is a pretty rare thing to say about an interview. Ultimately, I chose another offer to be closer to family, but Ike is genuinely a place I hope I can work at some day.
