      Talent Acquisition Specialist Interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Illinois Tollway

      Interview

I applied for the role (the only way you can be considered) and received a call from a recruiter asking to schedule a video interview. She was a bit robotic but direct and a video panel interview was scheduled. I received an email with formal guidance on the rules and regs of the interview itself. I figured it's government, so that probably tracks. There were 5 people on the panel, including the person who called me taking the role as moderator. She read from a script, again very monotone - no smiles, and stated she would read 9 questions and the interview would end at the scheduled time. She had the panel introduce themselves, but again, no real smiles, just the facts and that was that. I answered the questions and each time she asked if the panelists had any follow up questions and not one came off mute to say a word. I was told there were 15 minutes left for me to ask questions so I did. The manager came off mute and seemed fairly nice and answered the questions. But no effort to truly engage with me. In the guidance it said I had to send them any notes I took on my end and send them all a thank you note. I did that, and only one person responded. I have been looking for a long time so I thought maybe I would take it for the benefits if it was offered, but I could not work as a recruiter in a place I can't actually recruit people, engage with candidates or build rapport. Candidate experience is important to me and that was not a good experience. If you have already worked in government maybe this doesn't suprise you. I understand they have to keep things consistent, but having a friendly voice, showing some smiles, and providing a little information about the team/environment up front without the candidate having to ask shouldn't be an issue. I was told that was the only interview necessary and I would get an offer or I wouldn't. I did not get the offer and that is just fine with me.

      Question 1

I think one of them was "Tell me about a time you had to work with a difficult manager."
