I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at JCPenney (Phoenix, AZ) in Mar 2013
Interview
I applied for a sales associate position on line.
It was months before they called to set up an interview.
When I got there,8 other people were also there.
The hiring manager said that she doesn't tell people that a
it is a group interview.
She wants people to be surprised.
The ad did mot say it was part time. Disappointed to hear that.
It was disappointing to hear that they did not have alot of hours to give.
Hours are given based on productivity.
Seems to be the typical thing with some stores now.
That's tough to make decent productivity if you have hours when the store is not busy like around dinner time or closing.
Was disappointed to hear the we will call everyone within a week and they did not take the time to call or send a "we selected someone else" letter.
Although that seems to be normal now a days.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
No difficult questions. Typical what do you consider to be good customer service.
Easy, got hired in 1 week and was able to start as soon as possible. It was a good process and I liked the people I interviewed with. The culture is off to a positive start.
The interview process begins with an initial screening to review qualifications and experience. Selected candidates then participate in one or more interviews with the hiring team, which may include behavioral and role-specific questions. Final candidates may be asked to complete an assessment or meet with senior stakeholders before a hiring decision is made. Candidates are kept informed throughout the process.
