      Marketing Interview

      Sep 11, 2017
      Anonymous employee
      Portland, OR
      Accepted offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at KEEN Footwear (Portland, OR) in Feb 2017

      Interview

I was brought in and interviewed with many people, from different functions across the company. This was after two phone screens, one with HR and one with a superviser. Much of what was discussed did not happen after hiring and it's been difficult to get answers on why. The number of people I had to interview with seemed difficult, however, much of the questions were repetitive. They were also very concerned with political views.

      Interview

I stumbled upon what seemed like the perfect opportunity based on my background and experience, but after two rounds of awkward interviews with folks that had no interest in connecting or being personable, my opinion quickly changed. Both interviews felt like the questions were pulled from ChatGPT and lacked personalization based on my resume and based on my responses to their questions. I also felt as though they were prying for free consulting advice. When it was my turn to ask questions, the interviewer seemed put off and had no interest in answering them. One interviewer also came across as extremely egotistical when I asked a follow up question about “who do you think is doing that well?” and they said “no one”. I was stunned. The person was either unprepared to answer questions about Keen’s goals, hadn’t done their marketing research they led to the development of this goal, or simply egotistical in thinking “no one has accomplished this but I can”. While I’m disappointed in what I discovered, I do think it is important to keep in mind company culture, as well as job specifications. On paper, the role seemed perfect, but when I met the folks I’d be working with, everything felt off. I know I would not have been happy.

      Application

I applied online. The process took 5 days. I interviewed at KEEN Footwear (Portland, OR)

      Interview

The interview was short and sweet. Phone call first, in person second. They asked a lot of questions pertaining to the industry as well as my personal life. I did feel as though they wanted to get to know me as a person more than what my skill set was. They interview was very informal as is the company atmosphere. I would recommend having an athletic background or having a connection already established within KEEN.
