      Sales Representative Interview

      Jun 13, 2018
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      Grand Rapids, MI
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Keyence (Grand Rapids, MI) in Jun 2018

      Interview

Started with an online application and later received contact from a recruiting agency. The recruiting agency asked straightforward questions about what and why regarding company interest and industry. There was a Bennett test that consisted of about 55 questions; no worries, it's as elementary as one could imagine. The last checkpoint I made it to was the HireVue interview process. You sit down in front of a camera and record yourself answering seven questions that Keyence wants to know. For example, "Tell us about your background and how it has developed you into who you are today." They want you to answer all questions in 3 minutes, all while having 1 minute to prepare for each question. Conclusively, no offer was made and my employment went elsewhere. You can and can't really prepare for this interview. It's especially designed for the selfie generation, so if you're not okay with talking to yourself whilst being recorded under a professional expectation, apply elsewhere. My experience was horrible. I've decided, upon further research of companies using this strategy, is that it bypasses quality recruiting and HR department personnel into a general prerecorded 'interview.' It's as if I applied for a acting job in Hollywood, CA, not a sales professional position. Keyence, take note: Train your HR personnel to give real-time, quality interviews instead of using prerecorded questions. It's lazy and far from creative--contrary to your push for innovative technology and being the world leader in technological advancement. You're limiting your sales professional's potential based on lazy, 'cost-effective' practice.

      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Keyence (Milan) in Jun 2026

      Interview

      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Keyence (Chicago, IL) in Jun 2026

      Interview

Very in-depth and professional. There is an initial interview with a recruiter, then you will do a sales role play, and then an interview. On the day of the interview, you are put into a career day kick-off with 30-40 other candidates.
