I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Kumon (Lodi, CA) in Mar 2019
Interview
I applied for a part time job at the Lodi, CA center as a tutor. They expressed interest but told me I’d have to quit my job as an online tutor to kids in China so I politely declined and gave my reasons.
Here’s what I said, “Sorry, but if I have to stop working for VIPKID then I’m not interested. There’s no way for their organization to be in competition with yours being that they are based in China and yours isn’t. VIPKID offers me the independence to work remotely all over the world as much or a little as I want and yours is only offering me 12-15 hours in one location. Thanks for your interest!“
They replied in a very salty tone and accused me of being unprofessional just for being honest! They replied with, “Although we understand your reason and desire to continue your work with VIPKID, we do not appreciate the unprofessional tone you use in your reply. We are glad to find out that you are not the right match for our work environment after all.”
Some people don’t take rejection well I guess. How dare they think they can monopolize my time outside of work for a lousy 12-15 hours?!

Interview
Lighthearted and fun conversation! The boss was very polite and informative on the position and explained a lot about the structure and students. Once on the job, I cultivated an engaging and interactive classroom environment that ignited students' enthusiasm for learning. By tailoring teaching methods to individual learning styles, I fostered a strong sense of interest and participation in the subjects at hand
