Interviews for Top Jobs at Labman Automation

Anonymous Interview Candidate in Bracknell, England
I applied online. I interviewed at Labman Automation (Bracknell, England) in Nov 2022
The teams Interview was straightforward. Introduce yourself, about the company, your experience, and rapid-fire questions, lastly, you're presented with the opportunity to ask questions. Would recommend you read the job description thoroughly and carry out general research about the company.
- Can you tell me 10 elements in the periodic table?
- percentage question in the rapid-fire, 41% of 200?
- multiplication question in the rapid-fire - 82*4?
- What do you know about our company?
- have you done any personal projects outside the university and what do you do in your free time?
- what do you expect to do in the first 6-months and what are your long-term goals?

Anonymous Interview Candidate in London, England
I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Labman Automation (London, England) in Oct 2022
It was a 40-60 min interview with HR, which is not the typical interview where they want to know about you. They seem to be more interested in your general science knowledge.
- Prepare to answer random things as speed of light, elements from the periodic table, how is light measured? and things like that...

I would say it was done very well. The interviewer made sure that I was comfortable and accounted for my specific needs. I would recommend applying here. I learnt a lot from this interview personally.
- What is one project you had worked on in the past?

Really good interactive interview with different tasks instead of the usual interview quesitons . Involved a group task also at the end. First stage was the phone interview where they asked you a vast range of science questions
- Percentage of oxygen in the air

The telephonic interview was great and I learned some techniques to prepare for the coming interviews it helped me a lot. And I got a great experience because it was my first interview.
- what do you achieve in the first six months of joining the company?

Anonymous Interview Candidate in Stokesley, England
I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Labman Automation (Stokesley, England) in Jan 2021
Had a 45 minute call with a lady from HR, she was very quick to the point and not a lot of small talk. Asked the usual introduction questions then more about what I have achieved in engineering. Afterwards she did a bullet fire round of asking roughly 40 questions (can't remember exactly how many due to how quick they were) where I had a few seconds to give an answer. The questions ranged from electrical engineering, mechanical, materials, maths, workshop equipment and practice, chemistry and general knowledge. Overall, a fine interview although the quickfire round of questions was quite intense and asked questions that had nothing to do with my degree or the role I was applying for. Seemed more like they were looking for an IMEE or robotics student.
- Name 10 elements Name 5 programming languages Name 5 different types of plastic What is the speed of sound What is the function of a centre punch What workshop tool would you use to make a screw What is the closest planet to the Sun What would you find in a UPS What is 11 times 13

Anonymous Interview Candidate in Middlesbrough, England
I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Labman Automation (Middlesbrough, England) in Nov 2020
Interviewer was very friendly and helpful. Interview its self started with standard questions followed by numerous general science and Engineering based questions. This was not mentioned prior to the interview so be warned.
- Name 10 elements on the periodic table

I applied online. I interviewed at Labman Automation
I applied online and then received a request for a phone interview. I think in hindsight the role was a bit more electronics based than I had originally been looking for so I'm not surprised that I didn't get the job but the interview was very odd. I hadn't been told in advance that it would be a technical interview so I was just expecting general competency questions. They asked around 30 questions with one word answers so they were testing your ability to know facts rather than problem solve in any way
- What is the closest planet to the sun?
- Name 10 elements from the periodic table

Anonymous Interview Candidate in Seamer, England
I applied online. The process took 2+ months. I interviewed at Labman Automation (Seamer, England) in Mar 2018
An initial telephone interview was conducted containing 40 general science knowledge questions and a general chat about interests and my CV. This was followed by an assessment centre style day. This involved a day of interviewing followed by a meal with an overnight stay in a local hotel for candidates not from the local area. The day began with a site tour this was followed by interviews comprised of 6 test stations in which a task had to be completed in 5 minutes these were: Wire a plug Solder wires to a d connector Make a test tube rack from paper Describe how to open a jar without referring to clocks Describe how a car jack works General talk with staff Following this there was a group exercise in which a pick and mix machine had to be designed for a fictional client. This was followed by an evening meal.
- Describe a time you've worked as a team member?
- What sort of role would you like here?
