I applied in-person. The process took 5 weeks. I interviewed at Lee College (Baytown, TX) in May 2019
It was very un organized. I received an email asking to make a presentation with little to no instruction in a one day time frame. I went to the interview and it was an hour long with a 5 person panel. I was then told what a great job I did under the time frame and was contacted back only to find out I was not selected. Pay is very very low as well.
- The team was unorganized and wanted a presentation that was a complete waste of time

All interviews are completed by committee, so there will be at least three people asking you questions. All of the questions are decided before the interview, so committee members take turns reading them. You respond, then they take notes and move to the next question. At the end of the questions, you have an opportunity to ask any questions of your own. The hiring process can be painfully slow, but that's par for the course at many public colleges and universities.
- Where do you see yourself/your career in 5 years? Tell us about a time when you overcame a challenge or solved a problem at work.

Had a phone interview with the EA, then a week or so later, a live interview with five people. I followed up with emails, thanking each one, and emailed my original contact once or twice as a follow up. She never responded at all, and six weeks after the second interview, I received the decline email.
- Twice I was asked, by two different people, "what are your plans in five years--you know, after you leave Lee College?" The second time, I had a good answer for them, but of course, it wasn't enough to get hired on for a $15-an-hour job.

I was hired at the Lee College Wellness Center as an Exercise Monitor. I talked to the director of the Wellness Center and he offered me the job. We discussed hours that I would be able to work and my schedule. I met the other people working in the gym and was able to start right away.
- There were not many questions asked, since I already knew the director of the Wellness Center on a personal basis.

Submit application. A hiring committee is formed and reviews all applicants. Five applicants (or so) get a call for an interview. A lecture topic is given and all applicants will be required to prepare a lecture on the given topic--usually ten minutes. Then the traditional interview begins. Most positions also require a writing sample. If your name is put forward from the committee, you can expect at least one phone interview with a dean or the president.
- I was asked where I planned to live if I got the job.

Standard academic interview that included a panel and teaching demo. I met the dean and the VP. The board had to approve the assignment before I could officially start.
