The process started with a 15 min recruiter call which provided very little detail. I was then asked to complete a cognitive test (which had nothing to do with the role) and a week long assignment.
After investing significant time and effort, I was rejected with minimal feedback without ever having spoken directly to anyone on the team. If a company expects a candidate to complete extensive unpaid work, they should be much clearer about expectations and take the time to properly engage with candidates beforehand. Additionally, the instructions for the project really undersold the detail and depth required. Alignment before assigning this would also ensure that candidates really understand what is expected.
Overall, the process felt a bit disrespectful of candidates' time and effort.
