I applied through a staffing agency. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Lenovo in Oct 2020
Interview
The salary was negotiated through a recruiter, upfront, and paperwork reflecting that number was signed before any interviews with Lenovo took place. There were several rounds of interviews; all were panel-style. They had me design a sample course using one of their products. When it came down to making an offer, they tried to talk me down on salary. I stood firm, explaining that the salary was decided beforehand. They ghosted me. You could not pay me enough to work for a company that pulls a bait and switch like this and then does not even get back to me to let me know that they have chosen someone else after I have jumped through all of their hoops during the interview process.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
They asked me how I deal with difficult subject matter experts. They also asked me to explain my design process. The department director harassed me about my response when she asked me whose responsibility it was to write learning objectives. She asked several follow-up questions that seemed very condescending. It almost seemed like she was trying to show off in front of the rest of her team.
Waste of time. Vague. They had no idea what they were looking for. Job description didn't match expectations. Low salary offered. No benefits. HR and hiring manager were not in agreement over scope of the role and job description.
