I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Lowe's Home Improvement (Johnson City, TN) in Aug 2024
Interview
Applied online, conducted virtual intake with a chatbot, invited into store for a 30 minute in-person interview. Interview lasted no more than 10 minutes (only because I asked questions, after preparing extensively). I was almost immediately told that there wasn't actually an open role and even if there was, the schedule is so unfriendly (after being advertised as flexible) that I probably wouldn't want to work there anyways unless I didn't want to see my partner or family regularly.

Interview
The interview process itself was fine, but the expected working hours were not disclosed to even consider different working hours. It was know what work hours I would be available, so I was not even considered. Why interview someone for a position if the hours they said they would be available, were not the ones that were required for the position?
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
General questions, tell me about yourself, are you a team player, tell me about a difficult situation, more personality type questions.

Interview
They bring you in for an interview but it’s just for retail sales. Which is great. You only have to have a high school diploma or GED and be able to work in USA. when I got there the department was Lumber. I’m a female. I still wasn’t sure what I was interviewing for. The manager just said to me “you probably wouldn’t want to work in limber”. I said “ I’m happy to work in any department. I would probably be more effective in another department but I can learn anything”. I never even go a call back. When I checked in the HR girl said there wasn’t an opening for what I applied for. And they don’t have any other part time. I said full time? She said you can apply”. What a horrible situation. STEREOTYPED ME AS A FEMALE, NOT SMART ENOUGH TO LEARN ANYTHING. I have 20 years experience in sales. In a technical device field. They wouldn’t know. They don’t ask and they don’t look at a resume. Good luck if you’re a woman.
