Interview process consisted of a 30-minute HR screen, a 1-hour call with the hiring manager, a 3-hour Go take-home assignment, and a final 1-hour technical discussion. The process progressed to the final round despite a clear mismatch between how questions were posed and how answers were evaluated. Several technical questions were underspecified. Attempts to clarify assumptions or constraints were treated negatively rather than used to align on the problem. When answers did not match unspoken expectations, the discussion became adversarial instead of exploratory. Evaluation favored prior fintech integration pattern familiarity over reasoning, problem framing, or explicit discussion of trade-offs. Candidates without deep fintech integration background should clarify expectations early.

Applied in mid-September and got a quick initial response, but the process dragged on for over a month before I finally interviewed. The technical interview was terrible — a clear good cop/bad cop dynamic with interviewers who weren’t even part of the team I’d be joining. Hard pass, Mambu. I’m probably in for another month of waiting before getting one of those anonymous “thanks but no thanks” emails. Arrogance and greed killed tech.
