The process started with an initial interview with HR, which went well, followed by a straightforward take-home assignment. However, the interview with the hiring manager was not a positive experience. Throughout the conversation, his communication style came across as dismissive and at times passive-aggressive. On several occasions, his reactions to my answers felt condescending, and there were moments where my responses were met with sarcasm or remarks that came across as belittling rather than constructive. He also appeared to have a very fixed perspective on how product management should be approached and was not particularly receptive to the methods I described from my previous roles, often downplaying them instead of engaging in a meaningful discussion. Additionally, when I asked questions about fundamental aspects, the responses lacked clarity, which made it difficult to understand the team’s direction. Overall, the tone of the interview felt more discouraging than collaborative.
