    Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Maricopa Community Colleges (Phoenix, AZ) in July 2011.

    Interview

Typically interviewed 2 or 3 times. The first will be a panel interview. At least one person present will be the hiring manager for the area you are interviewing or a supervisor over that area. The second round of interviews will mean you are on a short list of candidates and received enough points to make it to that round. Answer questions completely, and DO NOT be afraid to restate items from your resume. If it is not said out loud by you, they cannot score you on the answer.

    Adjunct Faculty Interview

    Anonymous Employee in Chandler, AZ

    Positive Experience
    Easy Interview

    Application

I applied through other source. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Maricopa Community Colleges (Chandler, AZ) in August 2013.

    Interview

Largely, this job was found for me by someone in my network. The need was great enough that the hiring process consisted of little more than proving my credentials (supplying them with a resume and transcripts) and discussing the job with the department chair.

    Interview Questions

    • The qualification most needed for this job is the educational requirement. The departments require certain numbers of graduate credits in the area you are teaching in to even be considered.   Answer Question

    Negotiation

Pay and other compensation is not negotiable and since Adjunct Faculty are usually brought in to teach a specific course, the type of work is not negotiable, but the manner in which you teach the course is somewhat flexible.

Lengthy process, you must interview in front of a committee. Lack of training, lack of guidance, lack of feedback

    Instructional Designer Interview

    Average Interview

    Application

I applied online. The process took 3+ months. I interviewed at Maricopa Community Colleges (Tempe, AZ) in September 2017.

    Interview

Standard behavioral style interview. You come in and the questions are taped to the desk and the committee does the basic round robin. I found the whole process (compared to similar interview elsewhere) cold and half-way through I honestly started to think that you had to be a robot to work there.

    Interview Questions

    • The usual standbys, tell us about a time you had conflict yadda yadda. The process overall is arcane and strained, you get the impression they don't want to be there and I later found out from a friend that holds a position in the district, that they actually coach the panels not to show emotion. Draining and the most basic elements of the process take MONTHS! Communication is poor if at all.   Answer Question

    Faculty Interview

Anonymous Interview Candidate in Mesa, AZ
    Declined Offer
    Negative Experience

    Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Maricopa Community Colleges (Mesa, AZ) in April 2015.

    Interview

Interview is great, the process never changes. They ask the same questions every time more or less. They already know who they will pick, or won't pick though. Also they don't answer back, there is NO interaction between the interviewers or interviewees. If you want clarification on any questions, even thought say you can ask, they just re-read the question. Again, they know who they want. The committees are stack, with the 'same minded' people. Also in my case at least one person's command of the English language was sorely lacking.

    Interview Questions
