      Account Executive Interview

      May 2, 2016
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      San Francisco, CA
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 5 weeks. I interviewed at Motive (San Francisco, CA) in Apr 2016

      Interview

The interview process consisted of two phone screens and a research project. Connected with the hiring manager via AngelList and started the interview process. Over all the whole interview process stretched out to 5+ weeks. 1st interview/phone screen was about 10min long, standard interview questions. 2nd Interview was supposed to be with an AE and it got canceled at the last second. Ended up rescheduling the same interview 2 weeks out. 3rd Research Project in two parts. You have to research the competition and do your own SWOT analysis. They also require 3 professional references. At the very end the hiring manager went complexly MIA. I followed up with two emails and a phone call. I haven't heard back. Overall, very sloppy and unprofessional. Advice, if you plan to reject someone at least write them a rejection email, don't disappear on potential candidates.

      Question 1

Project 1: SWOT Analysis Background: New businesses or startups can learn and understand their positioning, value for consumers, and competitiveness in the market by creating a SWOT Analysis. Goal: Gain a better understanding of KeepTruckin, what our value proposition is for Fleet Managers and Drivers, and where we fit in the market amongst our competitors. Project: Create a SWOT analysis for KeepTruckin and describe as best as you can what KeepTruckin’s value proposition is to both the fleet managers and drivers. Project 2: Handling Objections Background: On any given day we hear a number of different customer objections as to why they aren’t or won’t purchasing our ELD. This can sometimes be hard to handle and still stay on top of your game to convincing them why they need these electronic logging devices today, and why they should be using KeepTruckin’s Goal: Be well prepared for some of our most frequent and toughest objections Project: Give your best statements to handle the following most common objections. My drivers are too old or not tech savy enough to use KeepTruckin. We’re just going to wait until the mandate passes and we have to switch to ELD’s. Send me some information. I’m too busy and don’t have time to talk right now. It’s between you and JJ Keller ELD, why should we choose KeepTruckin? (this will require you to research JJ Keller and compare and contrast their product to ours)

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Motive (Austin, TX) in Aug 2025

      Interview

Really enjoyed the interview with the immediate team, but was completely ghosted by the recruiter after 2 rounds. After speaking to 3 people and not hearing back, I was pretty disappointed because I was interested in the role and did follow up on my end more than once.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Asked about current experience, biggest accomplishments, long term goals.
