A recruiter reached out to me on LinkedIn and after several weeks of them ghosting me then wanting to finally calendar something we finally had a meeting scheduled between them and the another person. It wasn't until the meeting was actually scheduled that I even knew what the position was for which I found frustrating and odd later I feel like it was a red flag. I had to do research online to find the job description and requirements that had been posted about six months ago. The recruiter only stated that my skills looked like a good fit for a position they were hiring for when they first messaged me. The meeting was scheduled through zoom. I assumed because it was our first time talking this would be camera off but thankfully, I was prepared anyways and it was camera on. In my past experience interviewing the recruiter will likely give you a heads-up, it will be camera on or be recorded. One person made it clear that they needed this meeting to stay confidential. This gave me clues that they are preparing to fire the current person in this role and hire someone to replace them fairly quickly and they are being pressured to get the person hired quickly. They stated from the beginning I would be doing a majority of the talking. After they answered a couple more questions, they asked my salary range which I'd already told the recruiter but I understand that's not always shared. The recruiter interrupted me several times while I was in the middle of answering another question which I found rude and odd, another red flag. Wait until I finish one question before you ask another. As the main person was going over my resume, she made a comment that made me feel like I'm a job hopper. I've been with my current company for 4 years and the shortest I've been with a company is one year. I didn’t feel it was appreciate to mention it was I felt really judged by them and it left a bad taste in my mouth, another red flag. I explained that I am ambitious and if I don't feel challenged in a role I begin looking elsewhere. Once they finished their questions, they said they would be getting together at the end of the week to discuss. There wasn’t even the chance for them to ask me if I had any questions. I always prepare so I had a ton especially since they had been so vague on the position. Afterwards I realized they weren’t really interested in me they’re just narrowing down the list of people they’ve recruited on LinkedIn. After sitting on the aftermath I thought how odd the entire experience was and decided they seem disorganized and have poor communication skills and I don't won't to pursue the position because I saw way too many red flags that I don’t want to be associated with a company like this. They don’t seem to understand that interviews are a comes from both ends. I'm already employed with a really good company so there's has to be a really good reason to leave my current position. I do always look for better opportunities, which is why I accepted this meeting invite but now that I've had time to reflect and review other people's experience I'm going to stick with my current company that has it more together than this company. The main reason I accepted the meeting is because they said the budget would almost double my salary. After researching the company afterwards I’ve found some interesting post that only confirm my suspicions that they have a high-turnover rate and they pay above the average so they can work burn you out and micromanage you. You can triple my salary and I would never want to work for a company like that. I really feel like I dodged a real bullet with not progressing in the interview process and I wasn’t going to move proceed anyways.
