Interview
Phone Interviewer was not American and did not speak English!
H1-B worker?
It took 3 weeks to get the interview scheduled. It was very unprofessional. They are hiring foreigners to interview Americans for jobs in America.
It was very disturbing and unprofessional.
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Nelnet (Highlands Ranch, CO) in Nov 2019
Interview
I was contacted by a recruiter and asked to apply for this position. In initial communication the recruiter specified a large amount of compensation, but later back-pedaled that amount by over 20-thousand dollars.
The recruiter called and spoke to me about my credentials for half an hour. After that, I heard nothing for weeks. Finally, he reached out and wanted to schedule an interview for the next day.
Apparently there was some scheduling issue because my interview was cancelled the same morning I was supposed to go in, and then un-cancelled a few hours before I had to leave. A little unnerving.
The interview itself was on-site, in a small room with three other developers. They all looked at their laptops the entire time and seemed to be fielding IMs at the same time they talked to me — it was rude. After the initial greetings, the entire hour was rapid-fire questions to assess technical knowledge. I don’t know if asking flash-card style questions is really the best way to assess someone’s abilities. It was a lazy interview, and I left feeling bitter about the company.
