I applied online, received a phone call from their Internal Recruiter, Michael about the position and he asked if i'd also consider applying for a position in their Watford office (Salmon), I told them i'd prefer their City of London branch (Neoworks) and sent through my CV for him to pass onto the Neoworks team.
They got in touch shortly after and arranged for an initial phone interview with Jesson the Head of Front End for Neoworks. I spoke to Jesson briefly about my skills and that eventuated into a face-to-face interview.
This was easily the longest interview i've ever done in my life, it lasted 3 hours! I went in on time and initially met with Jess their Learning & Development Manager, she was great, her questions were just generally getting to know me and my personality, perhaps seeing if I was a good team fit.
I believe there was a breakdown in communication between their Salmon Internal Recruiter, Michael and Neoworks because the FED's didn't realise my interview was arranged for that day so Jess was keeping me busy till Jesson and João (Senior Front End Developer) were back in the office.
When they arrived they apologised about the communication breakdown but started the interview. There were general questions and little exercises for me to do. They show me a design and ask me to code it (HTML) on the whiteboard. There were two exercises like this, one was simple and the other was slightly more difficult. The exercises were done to get an idea of how I would code up the design.
I thought the overall interview went well, I was in there for a very long time and they should have got a good understanding of me and how I work.
About three days later I got a call from Michael saying I was unsuccessful, It wasn't anything I had done wrong necessarily and that they thought I would have been a good team fit, it was just that they wanted someone slightly more experienced. Michael told me the Neoworks team spoke very highly of me.
