      Graduate Engineer Interview

      Mar 31, 2013
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      York, England
      Declined offer
      Positive experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at Nestlé (York, England) in Jan 2013

      Interview

Having applied online by completing competency questions and other general info, as well as uploading my cv, I was asked to complete an online assessment. This was testing mathematical, verbal and diagramatical reasoning. I was then offered a phone interview that lasted approx 30 minutes, this was again asking competency questions, as well as asking why I wanted to work for the company and what I could bring to the role. Having completed the phone interview I was offered an assessment day. This involved completing a written task, a group activity, a presentation and an interview. Following the assessment day, I was invited back to interview with the head uk engineer, in charge of graduates. I was then offered the job over the phone.

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Nestlé (York, England)

      Interview

Applied online. No CV required, just one giant job simulation test. Received an assessment centre invite couple months after. The assessment centre involved around 14 candidates. The day started off with an "ice-breaker" which involved every candidate to say what their favourite product is and why. Then, moved on to the group work - in a group of 6, you are each given a case-study which involved three types of coffee and you have to decide as a group which gets pushed to development. The interview was entirely strength based - 15 to 20 questions. Then the day ended with lunch and a qna with current graduates. It was by far the toughest interview I've done, the questions were so mentally draining that my answers started to fall off towards the end. They had very strict rules on the questions such as not allowed to rephrase the question, not allowed to ask follow-up questions so answer as full as you can. All for the purpose of being "fair". You are also told which questions were assessed and which weren't.
