      Implementation Consultant Interview

      Aug 1, 2017
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      Mountain View, CA
      No offer
      Neutral experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Origami Logic (Mountain View, CA)

      Interview

I had 3 phone interviews with various members of the team, followed by a project assignment which they flew me out to Mountain View to present. The good thing was that the 3 phone interviews were scheduled quickly, and overall I really enjoyed speaking with everyone on the team. On site, I had about 8 in-person interviews with people throughout the company as well as a group meeting where I was charged with presenting my project to a larger group. However, there were some red flags with the interview process. The administrative assistant was unprofessional; she booked me on excessively long flights with layovers (10.5 hours vs. the standard 5), spelled my name wrong on all of my travel documents, and was late the day of my interview. During the interview on-site, I had to meet with someone condescending from the Engineering team who made me do math problems which were unrelated to the role I was interviewing for. I wasn't expecting this at all and it really threw me off. If that type of math was a part of the role, it was never expressed to me before or after the interview, so it was just a weird thing to incorporate since it was a non-technical role. Also, after spending significant time on multiple rounds of interviews, flying to California for a long day of interviews, and creating a custom data project, I was informed 3 days later that I would not be offered the job by a terse email which just said they weren't going to make an offer, and that was it, no further feedback.

Some sort of pre-calculus question, the likes of which I haven't thought about since high school

      Implementation Consultant Interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at Origami Logic

      Interview

I will preface this by saying that the following account was my personal experience, and may not be indicative of the company as a whole, but was enough to sour my perception of the interview/hiring process, initial candidate experience, and compel me to share it here so that others may learn. It started when I found the listing on Angel List and applied through their company website. The talent acq. rep contacted me 3 days following to schedule my first interview. It was with one of their analysts/implementation teammates and this first interview went well (enough to move me forward in the process) and the interviewer was a pleasure to talk to and get to know. I was actually looking forward to the prospect of joining her team. But then came the second interview - or I should say the "Waiting for Godot" of interviews. This 2nd interview (take 1) was scheduled for 3/20/17 @ 3pm with the implementation director; 20 min. prior to the call the recruiter emails me asking to reschedule with him due to a client call. I've worked at startups - I know the drill - they're typically small, bootstrappin', limited resources, I get it so I abide. So now this 2nd interview (take 2) is scheduled for 3/24 with the department VP instead. Come 3/24 I wait for the call, but no call & no message, so I reach out to them. 2nd interview (take 3) is now to be on 3/27 @ 4:15pm. Roughly an hour prior to the call on 3/27, I get an email to reschedule yet AGAIN. If you're keeping score, this is the 4th resched., so I mull over: - the red flag that both the director and the VP are too busy throughout their day to take a 30 min.(at least ; 45 min at most) call, multiple times. I truly feel for THEM, if they don't even have a timeslot throughout their day to chat with candidates. - the lack of a call or timely email, which seems like a lack of respect for my time since I've planned my day around these calls. - AND the various potential future working implications that these red flags might mean. So rather than resched again, I decide to send a short email stating that due to this latest rescheduling attempt, I'm no longer interested in moving forward and wished them the best of luck. ...Cherry on top: I don't receive any reply following the email; not even out of courtesy. I'm sure, for some, Origami Logic is/will be a great company to join given their 4+ star rating on Glassdoor, but I perceived my interview process experience as a stark glimpse of things to come and had to step aside.
