Questions about past work experience and roles. Asked why I wanted to work in fine dining. Wanted to know my perspective on efficiency and cleanliness. Asked about how I felt interacting with patrons.
Was brought in, asked pretty standard interview questions, then was told at the end that they had no intention of hiring me from the very beginning of the application process, they just wanted to meet with me anyway? I'm very lucky to have a job, a vehicle and no children to have to arrange childcare for, but they openly admitted to meeting with anyone who applies even knowing they have no intention of hiring them, just so no one feels "left out". This is a very naive and privileged way of thinking and it could really hurt people who rely on public transportation, have to find or pay for childcare, and people who are currently unemployed, ESPECIALLY for places like this who have no prospect of employment or even consideration. Do not waste your time or money applying here.
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Papa Haydn (Portland, OR) in May 2018
Interview
The interview process was normal. I was asked normal questions for a serving position. I've had prior serving experience but not this type of serving. There whole process was normal.
