I applied online. The process took 3 days. I interviewed at Penske Automotive Group (Turnersville, NJ) in Mar 2014
Interview
Submitted an application through Penske website and was called promptly to come in for an interview. Met with the sales manager at the time. Interview questions were very straight forward: Why car sales? Why work for us? They also provided a good description on the job, hours, and ballpark of annual salary. Basically you are paid a very low wage for the first 8 weeks of training and then you're on your own to make sales. Typical hours are 40-50/week and you give up your evenings and Saturdays.

Question 1
There really wasn't any. I had a background in sales that was featured on my resume, so questions were typical of that.
I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Penske Automotive Group (Round Rock, TX) in Aug 2025
Interview
I applied online and received a call back just a couple of days later. A phone interview was scheduled for the next week. This interview was pretty quick, and I was only asked like two questions. I was then scheduled for an in person interview two days later. The interviews with the sales manager was very chill. I wore a suit and tie and felt overdressed. I was asked a few standard questions. Up to this point, the process was extremely fast and easy. After the in person interview though, it took a week to get a contingency offer. I accepted, and started the background checks and drug tests. Despite doing these immediately, I didn’t hear anything back for 3-4 weeks. I reached out to the sales manager just to ask if I had been dropped from consideration since it had been so long. The whole process took just under 2 months from my application submission to my first day of work. And I submitted everything as quickly as possible.
