I was invited to come in to their head office for the testing component of their hiring process. The "interview" was an excel proficiency test and a critical thinking test. I was told that all candidates applying for a position at their head offices, are required to complete the critical thinking test, which they've been using for over 20 years. I thought that was quite an interesting fact. The testing was not timed but I was told it would take about 2 hours to complete. It was a first-time experience for me, but it definitely was a welcome reprieve from the generic phone screen interviews that most large companies are using nowadays to rule out the majority of qualified candidates. The critical thinking test required a lot of concentration but it was fun to test my skill level and a very positive experience overall. The Hr recruiter was very welcoming when she greeted me. She thoroughly explained all the test instructions and made me feel at ease. She was very easy to communicate with, both prior to the testing with regards to scheduling a convenient time to come in and following up with me after the interview. I would highly recommend Pet Valu to anyone considering employment opportunities with them.
