I was called on a Friday afternoon by someone who said that she was with Porterbrook, although the call came from a mobile and I didn't manage to find her details on LinkedIn afterwards. She assumed that I would recall all the knowledge I'd gathered about the business when applying and all that was in the Job Description and wanted me to justify why I'd applied to for the role. I said I thought that was an unfair question to ask someone to answer on an ad hoc basis - most candidates would apply for many roles and it's seriously difficult to try to recall one JD/one role. She ignored my concern and just decided to steamroller on. I dealt with her Professionally, curiously and answered all queries to a very high standard. She then went onto ask how much I was expecting to be paid for the role. There's lots of boastful talk in the JD about excellent salaries, and substantial bonuses. However talking to strangers about salary weeks before finding anything about the role seemed uncouth. I then got an aggressive demand to state my salary requirements, again just making me more uncomfortable. Again I didn't even have a JD to look at but I really don't talk about a salary for a roles based on an unprompted phone call with a stranger. I was told though if I didn't I would be immediately eliminated from the process. And so it proved. The interaction seemed a bit lacking in decorum and respect
