      I applied through college or university. I interviewed at RBC (San Francisco, CA) in May 2021

      Interview

      One first round interview followed by a super day. The first round interview was 30 minutes and it was both technical and behavioral. The super day was two hours, four 30 minute interviews. Three interviews were behavioral and one was technical.

      Several rounds: 1. Application Process Resume and Cover Letter: Make sure to highlight relevant experience, skills, and your interest in investment banking. Online Tests: Some firms require applicants to complete numerical and logical reasoning tests. 2. Phone or Video Interview Initial Screening: Usually conducted by HR or a junior banker, focusing on your resume and motivation. 3. Technical Interview Financial Knowledge: Questions on financial statements, valuation methods (like DCF, comparables), and market trends. Mathematics: Problem-solving and numerical skills might be tested. 4. Behavioral Interview Competency-Based Questions: These might include scenarios to assess how you work under pressure, handle conflicts, and demonstrate leadership. Fit Questions: They evaluate if you align with the firm's culture. Questions like “Why do you want to work in investment banking?” or “What are your long-term career goals?”

      1st round: 2 Analysts. 50/50 technical and behavioural questions. 2nd round: 1 MD and 1 Associate, mostly technical questions with a few behavioural questions for 30 minutes each. Questions on financial statements, valuation methods (like DCF, comparables), and market trends. Story in the news.
