Senior Software Engineer - Android Interview

      Mar 18, 2025
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      No offer
      Neutral experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Razorpay in Feb 2025

      Interview

3 rounds 1. Machine Coding - got on call - 1 hour round - Cleared the round - Basic recycler view + Retrofit API call, asked a few questions on modular architecture - splitting your application into multiple modules, and on the Android Components. One observation - It was too hard on the deadline, they wanted to complete exactly in one hour 2. System Design - Both Frontend and Backend - 1 hour. It was to design an SDK to be given to vendors - Not very complex - the interviewer gave the direction in which he wanted the answer - so that's good. Cleared this round as well. 3. HM : 1 hour - Tech + Cultural Discussion. - It was a bunch of questions around the projects that I had worked on and also on the whole android ecosystem. He went into the depth of each component like what do you think WorkManager internally uses, or what do Coroutines internally use? - One big observation - he was borderline condescending with everything that I tried giving solutions of. Also asked a bunch of questions about the culture - to which again he wasn't impressed with the things that I had done. Did not clear this round - but a ton of experience, on how to prepare.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

      - 1st two rounds were simple. Straightforward MVVM, Retrofit, RecyclerView and a very simple SDK + CRUD system to build. - HM - he went into the depth of a lot of components - so understand each part that you write in depth.
