When I first started at Recombinators, I was interviewing for a consultant position. One of the partners approached me to start in a trial role due to my limited experience in the industry. After meeting with him, I met with the other partner for a formal interview. A couple of weeks later, I started in my position.

What makes you a good candidate for the consultant position?
Interview process followed flow stated on website (initial call with hiring manager, assessment of cognitive aptitude and personal traits). No surprises. In-depth interviews with potential co-workers and partners were refreshing. Very transparent conversations which align to the firms guiding principles (honesty, empowerment and sharing the wealth).

Long but smooth!
It is thorough. They put your through 4 rounds plus a case for which you are given a week. The case is a challenging one and a real case.

I had a 30 min screener with a former consultant who was hired to help Recombinators source the right talent. Then I had a couple of hour-long in-depth interviews with the team, which involved talking to Partners.
