      Utility Billing Manager Interview

      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Resource Energy

      Interview

Applied online and received an email requesting a phone screen with HR. Phone screen was mostly a background of the company and benefits and a high level overview of the position. I was told that they would like to schedule me for a follow up zoom interview. What was really odd is that I was asked to take a pre-employment online test prior to the follow up interview. In my entire professional career I have never been asked to do this... especially for a management position. I was told it wasn't a "pass or fail" test but rather to determine how much training I would need. That was the first red flag. I agreed to take the test because I was curious to see what it entailed. The test was fully online and each question was individually timed. It included basic math and word type problems as well as tasks in excel to determine knowledge of formulas, sorting, pivot tables etc. I logged onto the zoom 1 minute prior to the interview time (I never want to be considered late to an interview) and the hiring manager seemed a bit annoyed that I logged on a bit early. Red Flag 2. The interview consisted on more in depth information of the position. There were no standard interview questions such as tell me how you resolve conflicts or tell me about a project that didn't go quite as planned and how did you handle it. Instead it was just the generic "tell me about yourself". I was giving some background on how I currently manage my remote team and how I keep them motivated and engaged. It was mentioned that they are very busy and it seemed like interaction with the team was discouraged because of the workload. Red Flag 3. The entire interview lasted an hour. I wasn't thinking this position would be a good fit for me but I still sent an email thank you note directly after the interview ended. Absolutely no feedback at all after the interview. Most, if not all, companies send an email with "Thanks for your time but we have offered the position to another applicant "or something like that. It's a bit unprofessional to not send anything. Red Flag 4. Easy interview process but proceed with caution.
