I reached the venue for scheduled interview with 2 hours of travel and they informed me that the panel isn't available for interview. They then called me after 2 days at the same location. The technical round started at the scheduled time. It was a good experience. My work experience was matching very well with the resource requirement they had. I cracked it very well with satisfactory answers for almost all the questions asked. I was selected for 2nd round with the Lead person there who again asked me some questions here and there. He had liked my profile too and was willing to send me on-site. Then came 3rd round of salary negotiations. I informed him that I am already holding an offer and expecting better compensation. Also I am available for joining immediately. He wasn't happy with the fact that I am expecting more compensation than current offer. The person was rude while talking and said that my technical round performances were impressive but he did not like that I am expecting more compensation. I was shocked that a very senior HR person found this surprising which is quiet usual and normal. He then said that I will inform what happened during this round to the the other stakeholders and then they will see whether to take my candidature forward. ( I was surprised because in India, it is considered as selection if you reach HR round after cracking technical ones. They had informed me that I will have to undergo on-site round if this goes forward. Two days after that I got call for a telephonic on-site round and I finished with that(Here I was assuming that since I got call for this round, chances of me receiving offer are almost 100%). I then never heard from them and I kept on following up with HR and they were reluctant to even pick up phone calls. Somehow I managed to connect after multiple attempts and they told me that I have to undergo one more onsite round and the team is not available to conduct round(They knew that my joining date at another organization was near). In next phone call after 2 days , HR said that on-site people rejected my profile since I was already holding an offer. He himself wasn't much convinced while saying this to me and was trying to fake some other reasons as well. It is a fact that they were aware of my salary expectations and also that I am holding an offer even before they sent interview call letter to me. This was a pure time waste for me because I could not attend other company interviews to find better opportunities because every company wanted me to attend at the same time but i proffered this organization over them.
