An initial phone interview with a senior communications director was followed up with a formal selection day involving both presentation and competency based interviews.
The latter took about four hours to complete, with the first section being based around a presentation I was asked to prepare in advance - lots of questions relating to my experience, transferable skills, etc. The second half was a competency based interview that covered every single aspect of the job role description (so it is worth thoroughly preparing answers to demonstrate competency in all areas listed on these position outlines).
I then had an additional face-to-face interview with a senior director that covered some specifics of the role. This was apparently outside of Shell's normal hiring process, but was ascribed to there being two strong candidates and the role relying heavily on personnel chemistry. A check to see if I was the "right fit" in effect.
I had a final call with the same director when I was challenged on a couple of points made in previous interviews, and then following my responses the offer was made on the same call.
I accepted the offer, after negotiating a better base salary, and was then asked for various documentation as part of a background/reference check.
