I applied online to the opening. I was not applying to jobs, I just had been following Shell as I admired the company. My first impression of HR was not the best, the person who reached out initially seemed unorganized at best (or maybe overloaded with duties) nevertheless, all the follow up was based on my promptings. I enjoyed speaking with the hiring manager and I think she did as well since the conversation flowed organically. The 2nd round was a lot more difficult with the STAR questioning and the technical questions. For some questions, it was literally impossible to prepare, but I gave it my best effort. In the end, the candidate selected had external audit experience. Happy that they found the right fit, everything happens for a reason!
They did not ask for my feedback (in fact the same HR staff member completely ignored my request for feedback despite my making it to the final round - wow!), but if I had some to give, it would probably be that my resume clearly showed my work experience. If external audit was a deciding factor, I would have liked to have known sooner before taking PTO and spending hours upon hours of time preparing.
Overall, I had a positive experience except for the initial recruiter.
