I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at Shell (Houston, TX) in Sep 2012
Interview
SRD was straight forward. Follow SMART principles. They will like to see different aspects of your personality, so try to exhibit leadership traits and an ability to get the best out of the people who are with you. Stay comfortable and composed. Interview had different sessions, some 1-1, some group activities where they monitor your behavior/performance.
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at Shell (New Orleans, LA) in Jun 2013
Interview
two telephone interviews. First was a situational interview (give me and example of a time when you did x). Second was the same except it was kind of a role play. They asked if I understood Shell's life saving rules. They asked how I would react to certain rig based safety situations. For example, what would you do if the driller wanted to drill ahead with no secondary retention system in place on the top drive. The opvious answer is that you should stop the job.
