The interview process was rigorous but straightforward. It started with a 30- to 45-minute phone screen with the hiring manager to cover my background, hands-on experience with platforms like Ignition, and the day-to-day expectations for the role.
After that, I was invited for an onsite loop which consisted of interviews with six people, broken up into three 2-on-1 sessions. All three pairs covered a complete mix of everything:
Technical: Deep dives into PLC programming, system architecture, and hardware troubleshooting.
Systems Thinking: Scenario questions on how my work integrates across the facility and how I collaborate with adjacent teams like process engineering.
Behavioral: Standard STAR method questions focusing on team dynamics, strict safety protocols, and executing under tight deadlines.
Having all three pairs cover every angle made for a challenging loop, but it ensured every interviewer got a holistic view of my capabilities.
