Spectrum Brands seems disorganized and unprofessional. I am offended by their treatment following my interview.
Three weeks after applying online, I was contacted but the recruiter by email for a phone screen. This was set up quickly. I was then referred to a phone interview with the hiring manager the following week. This went well. Strangely, the hiring manager asked me to contact the recruiter to let her know to schedule an office visit for me (the location was not in my current home area). That occurred and arrangements were made for the and office visit and area tour.
The visit went well and was coordinated properly. Following these interviews, I was told they would be in touch with a decision or next steps.
Less than a week and a half later I received an automated message from the recruiting system stating that they are going to move forward with other candidates. I respect their decision, but found it odd that after a non-local site visit and a half day of interviews, this was the method they would inform me of their decision.
A few days after receiving the automated message, I emailed the recruiter to gain feedback from the interview process. The recruiter responded the next day to disregard the message as it was sent in error due to the transition of the recruiter of the position. She also indicated that since it was early December at that point, they were going to wait until January to make a decision.
January rolls around and I received no message from the recruiter. Obviously, this was already not a company I could trust, but I wanted to at least follow-up. I emailed again in early January, also copying the hiring manager, to understand the status of the search. It is now February 2016 with no reply.
