Met the their new director. We actually had a lot of colleagues in common since we both work in the hospitality industry in New York City. I was definitely qualified for the job, in fact we spoke several times and emailed each other with excitement for the interview. During my interview he wanted me to meet the GM, I waited for a while for him to get out of a meeting, but so much time had passed he asked me if I would come back. During that waiting time, we were talking about a small gap in my resume from four years ago. I told him that I had twins and I took a year off. I truly believe everything change then. He told me he was concerned on how I would work in this industry when I had two kids at home. I assured him that I had a very good support system at home and that me having kids would not affect my work. I emailed him the following dayTo thank him for the time he spent with me and to assure him again about my capabilities and about having kids. He did not respond to my email nor did he ever set up that GM Meeting. This was, to me, discrimination at its finest, and I’m pretty upset about I️t. He actually told me his concerns a second time before i left the interview. This is such old school thinking, and I’m shocked it’s happened to me.
