Thanks for your review of our interview process. I'm sorry to hear that the interview process took as long as it did, we aim to conclude every process within two weeks (initial telephone call to written offer), so I can only assume that internal absences may have affected this process.
We use a combination of experience (professional, academic, hobbies and interests), competency and cultural questions throughout the process and try to align our questions to challenges that people tend to face in the first 6 months.
I appreciate that this may come across as intense, but it has worked well for us in recent recent years - specifically with the significant early investment in training and development.
