I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at TSMC (Phoenix, AZ) in Nov 2024
Interview
Applied around September 2024, interview in early November.
Behavioral first round with 2 people, 1 being a current process engineer and the other being the hiring manager. The process engineer was friendly, nice, and asked standard behavioral questions like "How do you manage multitasking" and "if you had many urgent tasks at once how would you handle it?" The hiring manager, though, was straight up rude and arrogant, probably the rudest I've ever encountered in all interviews I've been in. He literally asked "What's the reason your GPA is so low"...while I have a 3.0 and I come from Berkeley chemistry (average for L&S chem is usually between 2.8-3.2). Otherwise he was arrogant asking why I had no internships in chemistry, why I didn't take relevant classes (our school literally has none in lithography), and almost wondering why I even applied for the position. It's like he's expecting candidates to be a 3.8+ Ivy League student with 2-3+ internships...for an entry-level onsite position in Arizona that doesn't even pay competitively for a candidate with that kind of profile.
I later received 5+ emails in 5 minutes about some kind of recall and they made an error with my application/interview, and that I got moved forward to the next step. A few weeks later I was sent a generic rejection email with obviously no feedback.
Disorganized, unprofessional hiring manager who's straight up rude and degrades you for not being perfect, and only slightly decent compensation. If it wasn't for it being TSMC, I'd say this company is a complete joke.
