I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Telenav in Feb 2011
Interview
The hiring manager in TeleNav was very rude. He gave me a 30 minute phone screen, asked me some basic Java and database questions. Then with 10 minutes left he asked me the algorithm question: how many games must be played among a certain number of teams to find a champion? It's the first time I came across this question. So I asked him to confirm the preconditions that it's impossible to arrange a fair tournament to give each team equal opportunities if I have odd number of teams like 5 or 9 teams. However he declined to give me the confirmations or any hints and told me that I should figure it out myself. 10 minutes passed I cannot come up a solution. He laughed and gave some disparaging comments like how terrible he felt about me, who cannot solve this problem given 6 years of experience.
Comparring my interview experience in eBay, Yahoo, VMWare and facebook, they would ask me only 1 or 2 algorithm questions in the one hour session with lots of interactions during whiteboard coding.
Later when I found the answer to the tournament algorithm question, the solutions would be based on the assumption that no requirements of giving equal opportunities for each team, which is a precondition he declined to give, which made me felt like it was totally a waste of time, given that they treat candidates so disrepspectfully.
