I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at The Beauty Crop (London, England) in Jun 2025
Interview
It was 3 stages altogether: a screening call with the recruiter, online interview with the hiring manager and then a final in-person interview and task presentation with the CEO & hiring manager. They were 15 minutes late to my in-person interview which I found quite disrespectful of my time to travel there on a working day, but were nice people and very transparent about the working styles & culture. I did wonder if this poor time management was a tell tale sign of the start up energy of the company though. The task was extremely lengthy, asking for two product range ideas: one makeup and one skincare alongside other tasks. This did make me a bit nervous in terms of potential idea-stealing. Overall the experience was ok, but above all I found the recruiter to be the worst recruiter experience I've ever had. The recruiter would ignore me endlessly throughout the process, fail to give me updates despite promising them, leading to me constantly chasing communication. I even recommended another person for a different role they were hiring for at The Beauty Crop and this was pretty much ignored. This really tainted the whole experience for me, so I'd hope The Beauty Crop opts for a better recruiter in the future as it really can taint the overall brand reputation.
I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at The Beauty Crop (London, England) in Jul 2024
Interview
My experience with this company was highly disappointing and frustrating, and I would strongly advise others to reconsider engaging with them.
Lack of Organization: Throughout the interview process, it became clear that the company operates in a chaotic and disorganized manner. Communication was inconsistent, and it often felt like there was no clear structure or direction in the process. Schedules were frequently changed at the last minute, and there was little regard for my time or the commitments I had made to the process.
Disregard for Candidate's Time: The company seemed to operate with a sense of entitlement to my time and efforts. They requested an extensive task as part of the interview process, which I found to be excessive and unreasonable, especially given that there was no compensation offered. This task required significant effort and appeared to be more about getting free work than genuinely assessing my skills.
Unprofessional Approach: The entire process left me feeling undervalued as a candidate. The company did not respect my time, nor did they demonstrate a professional or considerate approach to the interview process. This lack of professionalism reflects poorly on the company's culture and raises concerns about what it might be like to work there.
Warning to Other Candidates: Based on my experience, I would strongly recommend against completing any unpaid tasks they may request. It is essential to be cautious about companies that expect you to provide substantial work for free during the interview process, as this could be an indication of how they treat their employees and contractors.
In summary, this company seems to be disorganized, inconsiderate, and unprofessional. My advice is to avoid engaging with them unless you have a clear understanding of what you are getting into.

Interview
Very unprofessional, one of the interviewees seemed to be in her pjs. The questions felt very repetitive and very unstructured and unorganised, so it was kind of irritating and I knew from then I did not want to work with them, so gave up in future interviews
