      Application

I applied online. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at The Broad Institute (Cambridge, MA) in Aug 2013

      Interview

I applied through linkedin and I got an email from HR that I should complete an online test which I did. Then I spoke with the HR on the phone the following day and then I got a call from the team lead for the position I was applying for. That phone interview was about the online test and about my phd thesis and a few other general technical questions. One this was done HR sent me an email and set up an on-site interview for me and I flew to Boston and stayed at a hotel which they paid for overnight. The next day I met with almost 12 people and the interview took about 5 hours. They also served lunch. The questions ranged from low level programming questions to high level algorithm questions. The people were extremely nice and respectful and compared to most other places I was completely impressed by their level of professionalism and friendliness. Having worked in a completely unrelated area I did not do too well in the questions but I did overall enjoy the experience.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

      Application

The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at The Broad Institute in Nov 2021

      Interview

Annoying, disrespectful process overall. The had me do a coding exam, and a "one way video interview" and have previous employers fill out a form and answer questions as references. This took up quite a lot of my time, and previous employers' time. They then gave me a roughly half hour interview, which basically covered what is on my resume and seemed to go fine. I got an automated rejection email later that day with no explanation whatsoever.

      Question 1

"tell me about yourself," "where do you see yourself in 5 years," etc.

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at The Broad Institute (Cambridge, MA) in Mar 2021

      Interview

I applied three teams there, and two out of the three teams had coding tests. While waiting for one team to respond, I was invited to in-person interviews for the two of the three teams.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

It was mostly about my interests and how my experience aligned with the team's goals.
