When I first noticed CIIE on the Internet, I was pretty excited for some of the opportunities they offered. I love the international environment and it seems most of its employee are brilliant young people. I have a passion to work with young international students when I was still in school so this job sounds fun and challenging at the same time.
Sent in the application in the morning and got a interview scheduled by the end of the day. A quick look at Glassdoor seems to yield some pretty negative comment but I still have a good feeling towards the company.
Show up at the office on the dot, parking was not as ample as you'd thought. The first impression is that I almost thought I went into one of university's international student office (that can be a good or bad thing for a consulting firm). The office is a bit disorganized but people are very nice.
The interview process, however, was quite underwhelming. Maybe because the firm thought it was a less significant position to them or I am not the right candidate for it the first second they met with me. I was interviewed in a rather casual manner, questions are not interactive and it seems they have better things to do the whole time. Needless to say it was over in quite a short period of time.
I walked out the door and extended my gratitude, almost immediately emailed my HR contact and asked for the interviewer's email so I can send them a thank you note, got no response ever since.
Like the reviewer have said, I am perfectly ok with rejection if you found that I am not a good fit to the position. But please atleast value my effort to come in and giving my full attention to the process, however I did not feel that my time was respected.
I would never consider any interview is a waste of time, take it you build connection, learn something new, or simply interacting with people in your field.
But this time, CIIE might be cutting it close.
