    GRAMMY U Representative Interview

    Application

I applied in-person. The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at The Recording Academy (Atlanta, GA).

    Interview

A fairly standard interview process with the Executive Director and Sr. Membership and Project Manager of the chapter. It was a small panel and the questions were nothing out of the ordinary. As long as you thought about what the job would entail, the questions were not impossible to answer.

    Application

I applied online. I interviewed at The Recording Academy (Los Angeles, CA) in March 2017.

    Interview

Was pretty straight forward, I first had a short telephone interview followed by an in person meeting between HR and the executive. The only downside was how long it took them to make the final decision about the opening.

    Interview Questions

    Designer Interview

    Easy Interview

    Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at The Recording Academy (Santa Monica, CA) in October 2016.

    Interview

Brief and amazing interview process. I had 3 meetings in 2 weeks. Decided to decline because this company seems as the reviews depict. As cool as it sounds to work for the Grammys, it seems like there is no creativity, no forward-thinking approach to social media or new technologies. Seems that they want to get there, but don't want to invest in developing an in-house creative team to grow into the times. Old school music industry. Staff was super nice, polite, and seemed like great people to work with, however, it didn't look like there would be much growth creatively at this company.

Project Manager At the Grammy Foundation Interview

    Average Interview

    Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at The Recording Academy (Los Angeles, CA) in August 2015.

    Interview

The interview was proceded by a call from HR, and the part I remember most was that they asked me what I would want for a salary. Unfortunately I think I gave them too low a number.

I had two interviews, both with the Executive Education Director and the Director of Programs and Events (both of whom would have been my manager for different aspects of the job). Two potential co-workers attended, who would have been colleagues in similar positions.

Ultimately they offered me the job, but I had another job offer at the same time, so I tried to negotiate a higher salary using the other offer (I had the Recording Academy offer first, and it was a lower salary than the offer I got elsewhere a couple of days later). This salary negotiation was with HR as the intermediary, and the HR person got back to me and said they were very offended that I would try to negotiate at all and had rescinded the offer. I think they thought I was bluffing. I took the other job, and I think it was the better choice.

    Interview Questions
