Unorganized. Run away.
Someone calls and asks what position would you like. If you say something, they tell you that’s exactly what they need.
There were no technical rounds at all. Second round was with CTO. Yes, the Co founder and CTO, who seemed to talk more about his academic accomplishments more than anything about the company.
The next rounds were formalities where people asked about my experience the same way I would ask a waiter about my food. Semi interested but already sure of what I’m going to get.
All this happens and then in the last week the recruiters (who are Indian and don’t know anything about the USA) give me an offer. They refuse to commit anything to email or add anything on paper.
They promised a large than expected salary with a much larger bonus. I I asked if they did Visa sponsorship and offer RSU and that’s when the conversation stopped. No reply, no answer, no nothing.
What’s my guess? Business plan is to exploit wage arbitrage from USA and India under the label of data science. The founders are planning to buy RSU and sell it to the only investor they have. In doing so, they purchased back a lot of shares and now, for all new hires, they offer a sleight of hand with a large bonus but will not do any RSU.
I’m glad these guys did not get back. I would have to tell them much more than no.
Oh and btw, this US company has and all Indian interview panel. Couple of recruiters stayed Upto 1 am in India to interview me. I’m not surprised if they expect the people in US to work the same hours.
