      Special Agent Interview

      Oct 9, 2014
      Anonymous employee
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied in-person. The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at US Air Force in May 2011

      Interview

There is a different process for military officers, enlisted members, and civilians wishing to be special agents. As a military member, I contacted the AFOSI detachment on my Air Force base and asked about joining. They gave me an application package. I had to disclose my personal finances (they wanted to gauge my financial responsibility), answer many standard questions about my past (including arrests, convictions, drug use, etc. to see if I was compatible with being a federal law enforcement officer), provide all of my past performance reports (to see if I was a self-starter and high performer), obtain my commander's recommendation for AFOSI duty, and give references. I had to take an IQ test (hard) and write a five-page essay (easy) to prove I was smart enough for the job and could write the reports in proper English. Then they interviewed my supervisor, friends, and neighbors. Finally, the local detachment commander interviewed me and my spouse.

      Question 1

There weren't any really difficult questions. They mostly wanted me to describe instances where I showed leadership and integrity, and overcame obstacles.
