It is a military board. Very stressful because it is suposed to be. The lists are long and the slots are short so the best needs to stand out by carrying themselves with pride and power through the entire process, both in front of a board and on paper. It is not just a "good job," you need to show initiative a good thinking.
I applied through college or university. I interviewed at US Army
Interview
No interview required. All you need to do is pass your 4 year university either at an academy or ROTC. Once you commit to the Army your junior year, there is no way out of it unless you pay off your paid tuition (roughly 250k)
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 6 months. I interviewed at US Army (Winston-Salem, NC) in Dec 2011
Interview
Selection is based on background and recommendations. No formal interview. It is a lengthy process and will require you work with a recruiter. Again, there's no interview per se. You will be required to pass a background check and medical screening, among other checkpoints and hurdles. Make sure to review your contract carefully.
