My interview was entirely over the phone, no video conferencing whatsoever. I actually missed the initial phone interview scheduled due to a glitch. In any case, I rescheduled and the manager was cool about it. I was hired after just one interview, which was more allied as opposed to adversarial. Before I knew it the equipment was promptly shipped and I was up and running to work remotely.
