Was asked some technical questions and when the topic of money came up, I told them I was looking for a salary around 118k, which was less than the low end of what they’d listed the job at. The job posting listed the salary as between 125k and 150k. But when I mentioned wanting 118k, I was told that it was too much. When I mentioned that the job posting had a low-end of 125k, the guy told me “Our budget says otherwise.” Between that, some pretty lackluster benefits, and the impression that I’d be a one-man IT shop, I wasn’t interested. Weeks later I saw that they’d revised the job posting to have a range of 75k - 150k. If they wouldn’t pay 118k, there’s no way they’d pay 150k, making that job posting intentionally misleading.
